Area emergency personnel responded to a motor vehicle accident on Saturday just east of Thedford near mile marker 211 in which a passenger vehicle collided head-on with a semi.
The accident claimed the lives of 42 year old Justin Sprague of Thedford and 42 year old Amy Mckillip of Beatrice, NE. Two juveniles were also critically injured in the accident. According to Thomas County Sheriff Joseph Smith, the two adult victims were declared deceased on scene.
The accident took place at approximately 12:40pm on Saturday, and closed the highway to traffic until around 4pm. The accident remains under investigation by the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol.
In addition to these law enforcement agencies, Thedford fire and rescue and Mullen rescue services responded to the accident as well as Hooker county officials.
