Over $7,000 was raised during the Wendy Nelson benefit hosted by the Valentine Lions Club on March 1st at the Cherry County Fairgrounds in Valentine. They estimated about 180 people enjoyed a hamburger or pork sandwich meal served by volunteers and the Lions Club. In addition to the $7,000 donated, Modern Woodman of America will match another $2,500. Tony Dunbar of Ainsworth won the Ruger American 17HMR rifle given away that evening. A big thank you to the community who supported Wendy with donations or the silent auction. Also to those who donated all the items for the auction and those who entertained like Rick Shelbourn, Donaldlene Osgood and Eddy Daniels.
