Cherry County Attorney Eric A. Scott has announced that a Kansas City man wanted for murder has been apprehended in Cherry County.  On Friday September 22, 2023, the Nebraska State Patrol was contacted by the Kansas City Police Department, Homicide Division, that a murder suspect believed to have killed his wife earlier that day, was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 20 somewhere in Northern Nebraska. The vehicle the suspect was operating was described as a 2022 white Toyota Rav4.  The suspect vehicle was located by the Nebraska State Patrol at mile marker 170 on Highway 20 in Cherry County, Nebraska.  The suspect, John R. Wonder was arrested on a felony warrant out of Clay County, Missouri for Murder in the 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action.

An extradition hearing was held in Cherry County Court today at which time John Wonder waived extradition.

Wonder, age 31 of Kansas City, Missouri, is being transported back to Missouri to face felony murder charges.
