Following multiple confirmed sightings of a mountain lion within the city limits of Valentine, the Valentine Police Department has been working with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to monitor the animal’s travel patterns. The most recent sighting were at the golf course on Tuesday during a girls golf tournament and then on Thursday morning within the city limits. At approximately 8:30 pm on 09/21/2023, the mountain lion was trapped and removed from property in the Lakeshore Drive area within the City limits of Valentine. The Valentine Police Department’s response was delineated by the Nebraska Mountain Lion Action Plan.
KVSH confirmed that the animal was euthanized in accordance with Game and Parks policy to protect public safety.
