The Second annual Sandhills Catfish Classic fishing tournament was held this past weekend at Merritt Reservoir Southwest of Valentine. The tournament grew in numbers a little bit form last year with 27 teams competing this year. Taking First place in the tournament with 62.1 pounds of fish were Steve and Sharon Brown of Valentine. Second place, with an even 62 pounds, was the team of John and Brad Michalek. Taking third place were Andy Dawson and Klinton Robertson with 60.6 pounds. Jeremy and Brayden Stec along with Doug and Nash Hesse took 4th place with 59.4 pounds. The 5th place team
was Jason Jura and Mike Vavra with an even 59 pounds. The top five teams brought in over 300 pounds of fish. Thanks to Tyler Brown of Valentine for organizing the event. It was sponsored by Whisker Getter Outdoors.
