As construction on Valentine’s Main Street came to a close, so did the “B” Street storm sewer project.  This multi-phase project was done in connection with the Main Street construction allowing for upgrades to the city’s overall storm sewer capabilities.  It is hoped that the upgrades on the storm sewer system that was up to a century old in some places will increase capacity and the rate of removal of stormwater that had been accumulating in some of the lower intersections, and affected the southern portions of Main, Cherry, and Hall streets.  City Manager Shane Seiwart stated that the construction was completed, and the city was now waiting for the engineers to give the final stamp of approval to close the books on this project.
