The City of Valentine held it’s regular City Council meeting Thursday evening at 6pm at the meeting room of the library.

At 6:05 a public hearing was held to hear recommendations for an application for a Class “D” liquor license for Tooth and Whisker Outdoors at 319 West Hwy 20 in Valentine. That request was approved. Joanna Connot was granted her request that the city close 1st Street between Main and Hall streets from 10am until midnight for the Heart City Summerfest on July 22nd.

On the issue of banking services bids and deposit rate bids, these agenda items were tabled, as the council will met on Tuesday July 18th to make some “apples to apples” comparisons on the bids.

The Mill Pond Dam Emergency Action Plan was approved, as was Tom Monroe’s application to serve on the Airport Advisory Board.

There was some budget discussion, followed by the efforts to purchase real estate for the proposed wellness center. The city was given a 60 day extension on their option.

On a related note, a reminder that the City of Valentine continues to spray for mosquitoes each Thursday evening, weather permitting.
