Almost 300 people attend the Main Street ribbon cutting event on Friday evening. Threatening weather held off so that residents could celebrate the completion of the project a few months earlier than expected. Kids enjoyed a couple of bouncey houses and Hoebes Smokin Meats served over 250 hamburgers and ran out of food. The burger was donated by Dam Cattle Company II. Bolo Beer Co hosted the beer garden and the band Whiskey Rebellion and Ransom Brothers entertained. Ransom Brothers are a popular band in Texas Country music and this was the first time they played out of their home state. The Valentine Classic Motor Club helped out by holding their annual cruise night to begin the evenings activities. The evening wrapped up with fireworks to help celebrate. Many residents took the time to visit about the proposed conference center at the former Shopko building. Architects presented variations of a plan for a conference center for about 500 people and community activities.
