The need for Summertime jobs coupled with a traditional midwestern work ethic means that the Valentine and surrounding area has an abundance of opportunities for summertime jobseekers. The “Heart City” and surrounding communities offer a great many opportunities for summer jobs. The region has a good number of ranch and other ag outlets looking for summer hands, and of course with the tourist season upon us, jobs are available in the service industry, such as restaurants and cafes, as well as area golf courses and local shops. More specialized positions tend to open up in
areas ranging from landscaping to lifeguarding. According to Valentine Chamber of Commerce Director Dean Jacobs, “just about everyone is hiring right now”. Many of these seasonal jobs are perfect for high school teens looking for their first jobs, college students returning home for the summer, or retirees who find that they would like a little something extra to do with their time.
