Smith Falls will be open for public viewing starting this Friday. According to a Game and Parks spokesperson the new steel and composite material walkway is ready for public use. The old wooden walkway was removed and the new 3.4 million dollar project undertaken by Game and Park last September. The falls area had to be closed to the public during construction. The new walkway will be completely ADA accessible and offer visitors a safer viewing experience. The Jim MacAllister Nature Trail offers hikers the chance to view the convergence of diverse ecological systems. Trails open daily, from dawn to dusk. Park vehicle entry permit required for entry to Smith Falls State Park. Office hours at the park are 10 to 2PM. Call 402-376-1306 for more information.
