The best day of the year greeted athletes and fans at the Valentine Invitational Track meet on Thursday at Valentine High School. The meet was moved up one day to avoid bad weather forecast for Friday.
A thunderstorm moved in late in the afternoon and a bolt of lightening in the area stopped the meet before all events were finished. Officials cleared the facility as a precaution.
Valentine Middle School Boys and Girls both took first place in the meet with the boys team scoring 196 points. The Valentine Varsity Girls placed 2nd and the Valentine Boys took 1st place.
