Wet conditions were credited for helping fire crews northwest of Cody on Tuesday night. The Cody Fire Department was called to the John Witt place just for a possible grass fire at about 8:45 MT, 9:45 CT. According to chief Jordan Pitkin, the fire was still limited to a single large soap weed that had been struck by lightning, with last nights rains keeping the fire from spreading to the grass, and firemen had very limited involvement. While forecasters are calling for some more moisture in the following week, a reminder for listeners that Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has extended the statewide burn ban through Sunday April 23rd.
