The Valentine Economic Development Board is pleased to announce that Mr. Mark Hagge has been selected and has accepted the full time economic development director position for Valentine. Mr. Hagge was selected from a field of applicants and will begin full time duties early this summer. Mark is a former football coach and educator in the Valentine High School and left in 2006 for similar duties in Ord Nebraska. He most recently has been serving at Principal and football coach at Hay Springs Nebraska. He and his wife Dawn previously purchased a home and property in the community and look forward to getting involved in helping Valentine excel. Mike Burge will step away from a part time position which he has held since 2006 to concentrate on operations of KVSH radio. He will continue in a part time capacity as the transition takes place which should be finalized by early summer. The Economic Development Board, with the approval of the Valentine City Council, felt that the time was right to have a full time director in that position. There have been numerous successes over the years including the updated swimming pool, new public golf course, helping numerous businesses with loans or facade grants,
helping start the Valentine Children and Families Coalition and steering the Main Street renovation process among others. Mr. Hagge, who will take over early this summer, looks forward to helping Valentine and the surrounding community find successes in quality of life opportunities and business expansion and retention.
