Valentine High School Athletic Director Blake Beebout informed KVSH radio this mooring that longtime Badger Wrestling Coach Shane Allison has decided to retired from that position. Valentine Community Schools would like to thank Coach Shane Allison for all of his hard work and dedication to the Valentine High School Wrestling Program, as he has decided to step down from Head Wrestling Coach.
Shane’s 18 years at the helm of Valentine Wrestling has produced a hall of fame career and a high school dynasty. Coach Allison’s teams won four State Titles (2012, 2017-2019), while placing Runner-Up twice (2015, 2016). The Badgers were also State Dual Champions (2017) and Runner-Up four years (2014, 2016, 2018, 2020). His entire coaching career also includes 23 Top Ten performances at State competitions. Shane’s success in coaching led to his selection as Nebraska Wrestling Coaches’ Association Class C Coach of the Year in 2012 and 2017, while also being selected National Wrestling Coaches’ Association State Coach of the Year in 2012 and 2018.
Coach Allison’s teams have set multiple State Records including: Pins at Districts (30), Pins at State (17 2x), State Champions in a year (5), Number of State Placers in a year (9), and State Scoring Title (195). Shane has coached 99 State Medalists, 48 State Finalists, 29 State Champions, 4-3x State Champions, and 1-4x State Champion.
Coach Allison’s wrestlers have gone on to wrestle for the University of Nebraska, Iowa State, University of Nebraska-Kearney, Chadron State, Northern State, Morningside, Nebraska Wesleyan, New Mexico Highlands, and the USMC. The positive impact and role he has played in his athletes’ lives was a key to Coach Allison’s success.
