A special event was held Wednesday afternoon at the Cherry County Justice center to honor Valentine Police Officer Jasmine Hoefs. Officer Hoefs was
injured in an accident on December 17th, 2022 while responding to help ambulance crews at the scene of a call. Jasmine was accidentally backed over by a loader tractor. Her left arm and part of her head were severely injured and she has been undergoing treatment at Faith Regional Hospital
in Norfolk. Dustin Calhoun of Black Hills Badges for Hope, presented Jasmine with a contribution of $2,000 to help the family continue as normal as possible. The organization helps families of law enforcement deal with hardships after the initial incident and tries to reinforce a positive interaction between youth and local police departments. Representatives of the Valentine Police Department, Cherry County Sheriffs Office, Nebraska State Patrol and local EMS were all in attendance, along with family members and news media.
