The public is invited to attend an open house on Friday afternoon for Open Plains Transit in Valentine. Open Plains has been operating a public small bus transit in Valentine since Mid November of 2022. Director of Transportation Jonnie Kusek told KVSH News they average about 20 rides per day at this time. They currently employ three drivers for the Valentine community and will begin Monday through Friday services starting next week. The open house will be 1 to 4 on Friday at the National Park Service Visitors Center. Several officials will be present to answer questions and provide information about the public transit system. They will also have buses available for public viewing. The service is open to all ages and regardless of income levels. It cost $2 each time you board the bus. They will help transport to medical appointments, shopping, family gatherings of whatever the event. Call 402 389 2975 to find out more about the service or to sign up for a ride.
