Incidents/Arrests:
On 01/08/2023 at 9:08 am, an officer responded to highway 20 and Main Streets for a report of an auto theft. A 32 year old South Dakota man was arrested for theft by unlawful taking and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
On 01/08/2023 at 7:58 pm, an officer responded to the 100 block of north Main Street for a theft report. A 25 year old Valentine woman was cited for theft by unlawful taking.
On 01/09/2023 at 11:33 pm, an officer fielded a theft from an automobile call. A 27 year old South Dakota man was arrested for theft by unlawful taking.
On 01/10/2023 at 9:37 am, a report of terroristic threats via social media was reported. The case is pending suspect identification.
On 01/10/2023 at 5:50 pm, a hit and run accident was reported at 3rd and Main Streets. The driver that left the scene of the accident has been identified as a 73 year old Gering man. All information has been forwarded to the Cherry County Attorney.
On 01/11/2023 at 1:07 pm, an officer responded to B and Main Streets for a report of an auto theft. A 29 year old male, 47 year old male and a 40 female, all from South Dakota were arrested for theft by unlawful taking and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Reported Offenses/Calls:
On 01/08/2023 at 8:34 pm, a woman was reportedly jumping in and out of traffic in the 100 block of south Main Street. The woman was not located.
On 01/09/2023 at 7:49 am, an officer conducted traffic control for a vehicle blocking the intersection at 4th and Main Streets.
On 01/09/2023 at 8:22 am, an officer was requested to check on truant children residing in the 200 block of south Helen Street.
On 01/10/2023 at 1:47 am, an officer was requested to check a closed business due to suspicious vehicles parked in their lot. No contact was made.
On 01/10/2023 at 8:12 pm, an officer responded to the 700 block of north Main Street for a disturbance. No action was taken.
On 01/11/2023 at 3:30 pm, a dog at large was reported in the 100 block of north Government Street. The owner was contacted.
On 01/11/2023 at 11:05 pm, a welfare check was requested in the 500 block of south Hall Street to conduct a welfare check on an overdue aircraft. The aircraft was located.
On 01/13/2023 at 6:52 am, a runaway was reported in the 200 block of north Hall Street. The juvenile later returned home.
On 01/13/2023 at 4:01 pm, a non-injury accident was reported. This was a delayed report involving damage less than $1500.
Officers responded to 100 calls for service this week.
