The Valentine Chamber and the community will be busy during the end of January and the first couple weeks for February. The Valentine Chamber of Commerce Cork Thorton Memorial Ice Fishing tournament will be on January 27th and 28th with almost 50 team already entered for the event. First place will pay out a guanteed $3,000 or more. Entries are online at valentinechamber.org or at Wrights Bait Shop and the visitors center. On the 228th and 29th, The Sparks Nebraska Spurs will host the Heart City Jackpot fast draw contest. 30 to 40 shooters are expected to compete during the tow days at the Cherry County Fairgrounds. Spectators are
welcome. The evening of February 5th at Valentine High School, will be the annual Valentine Coronation crowning the King and Queen of Hearts. February 11th is the annual Heart City Bull Bash with numerous other
events like the kid rodeo on Main Street, quilt show, Wine tasting, vender displays and more. The Chamber will host the annual Valentines Day ping pong ball drop for prizes at the fairgrounds at 5pm, followed by the cupids chili cook off in the 4-H building. Joan Swim of Springview won the design contest for the official Valentine from Valentine for the Chamber. There were seven entries this year according to Dean Jacobs, Chamber director.
