According the Shelly Pier from the Valentine Lions Club they reached their goal of $8,000 for the Salvation Army by under 100 dollars. Shelly told KVSH radio the official total at this time is $8,042.01. There is still a
pledged donation to arrive in the next couple of days that will push the total up. The Winter storm adversely affected the number of bell ringers and the donations in December. Pier reported they had about 100 bell
ringers that began right after Thanksgiving. 90% of donations will stay local to help area people. Northwest Community Action Partnership will be in charge of disbursing the funds that can be used for such things as heat or rental assistance, emergency shelter, food vouchers and medical travel.
