Incidents/Arrests:
On 12/20/2022 at 4:00 pm, an officer responded to the 100 block of south Main Street to conduct a welfare check. A 43 year old South Dakota man was found to be ok. He was arrested on an active Cherry County warrant.
Reported Offenses/Calls:
On 12/18/2022 at 1:59 pm, an officer responded to the intersection of Hall Street and Highway 20 for an accident with no injuries.
On 12/19/2022 at 9:05 am, a complaint of dogs at large attacking other dogs in the 200 block of north Western Street was filed.
On 12/20/2022 at 9:54 am, a dog at large jumping into yards was reported in the 400 block of east 5th Street.
On 12/20/2022 at 10:14 am, a request for a welfare check on a subject laying in the snow was called in. The subject had returned home prior to the officer’s arrival.
On 12/20/2022 at 1:49 pm, an officer received a complaint that a vehicle was parked on the sidewalk. The owner was contacted and requested to remove it.
On 12/20/2022 at 2:16 pm, an officer conducted a welfare check in the 200 block of west 2nd Street. All was ok.
On 12/20/2022 at 5:21 pm, an officer was called to the 300 block of west 2nd Street for a disturbance. Everything had calmed down prior to arrival.
On 12/20/2022 at 10:25 pm, a report of a man trying to jump in front of cars on west 3rd Street was called in. The subject was not located.
On 12/21/2022 at 10:05 am, a request for traffic control at 3rd and Main Street was called in due to an inoperable vehicle in the roadway.
On 12/21/2022 at 12:45 pm, a dog at large jumping into yards was reported in the 400 block of east 5th Street. The caller indicated it’s the same dog that was running at large on 12/19/2022.
On 12/21/2022 at 5:39 pm, an anonymous letter was received in regards to animal abuse/neglect. An investigation was opened.
On 12/22/2022 at 12:40 am, a vehicle was reported stolen in the 600 block of west highway 20. Prior to officer arrival, the vehicle was returned and a verbal dispute was now occurring. Officers were able to calm down all parties involved.
On 12/22/2022 at 6:14 pm, a welfare check was requested in the 200 block of east 5th Street. All was ok.
On 12/23/2022 at 12:25 am, officers responded to the 600 block of west highway 20 for a disturbance. The issue was resolved prior to law enforcement arrival.
On 12/23/2022 at 5:55 pm, a fraudulent $100 was reportedly passed at a local business.
On 12/23/2022 at 10:13 pm, an officer was requested to conduct a welfare check in the 100 block of north Wood Street. All was ok.
On 12/24/2022 at 9:42 am, for the 3rd time this week, the same dog was jumping into a yard in the 400 block of east 5th Street. The dog has not been located.
On 12/24/2022 at 2:20 pm, an officer was requested to conduct a welfare check in the 200 block of north Ray Street. No contact was made.
Officers responded to 83 calls for service this week.
