The Cherry County Board of Commissioners met for a special meeting on Monday, December 19th. This meeting included discussion concerning the Bluestem Sandhills- Kilgore Road use agreement and the decommissioning agreement and plan. According to Cherry County Clerk Britney Longlor, the agreements and plan were approved with the requested changes made by the county, and found to be in compliance with the counties requirements. This should allow the project to move forward at this time. The commissioners also had some discussion and an update from Cherry County Emergency Management, primarily discussing the previous week’s weather events, prompting a response from Governor Pete Ricketts, declaring a state of emergency in the storm zone, which includes Cherry County. This will allow for the county to utilize state resources in their efforts in response to Winter Storm Diaz.
