As part of the reconstruction of a new Valentine Main St, There will be 42 new decorative light poles from 4th Street to Highway 20 on Main Street. The old green decorative lighting poles ended on 1st Street. The new black posts are 16 feet tall, and the LED light units are 2′ 10″ tall which is the about the same size as the old lights. The new fixtures are “dark sky friendly” which means they have received the fixture seal of approval from the International Dark-Sky Association.
Planting of trees on Main street corners and at strategic locations will begin on October 14th. Species of trees have been specially chosen for the Main Street locations. They will be varieties of Podless Kentucky Coffee trees, Oak and Aspen.
