A ground breaking ceremony was held Friday afternoon in Northeast Valentine for a new housing project that has been about 3 years in the making. Jake Hoppe of Hoppe Developments in Omaha has been working with local officials to build 15 income based housing units on four lots in the city third addition. Construction is expected to begin in September on the multi family units to be located on current vacant lots. Some the ideas submitted by UNL Architecture students a couple of years ago run along the same lines as the Hoppe Development plans. The next planned housing development area would be east of the Valentine High School on property currently owned by the city of Valentine.
