Mary Schubert Hollopeter dedicated an American flag to the residents of Cherry Hills at the May resident birthday party on May 25th. The flag was flown over the Capitol in Washington, D.C. in honor of her 90th birthday on September 30, 2021.

Thanks to the Office of Senator Deb Fischer and Architect of the Capital, J. Brett Blanton, the flag was flown at the request of her daughter, Jane and Emmitt Fowler of Little Rock, AR. Two documents accompanied the flag to certify the flag was flown as requested.

Mary dedicated the flag to all veterans, especially to those who live at Cherry Hills Estates and to those who died in the service of our country. Following the program, the residents witnessed the hoisting of the flag in front of Cherry Hills where is will fly until after Flag Day. The Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America was sung by residents and staff.

Mary also told of her interviews with veterans for the Veterans History Project. To honor all veterans, she related the war story of World War II veteran, Gerald “Jud” Geseirich of Newport.
