City of Valentine residents are under a mandatory boil water notice from the City of Valentine. Late last evening the water pressure in the distribution system fell below a threshold that requires the city to test the water for bacteria. According to City Manger Shane Siewart, it is believed that a level sensor or piece of hardware in the reservoir malfunctioned and the tanks reached abnormally low levels. The city must now do a series of testing over the next couple of days to verify that there has been no contamination to the water supply. This is a required precaution in such a situation and there has not been any bacterial found in any samples as of yet.

Residents should bring drinking or cooking water to a boil for at least one minute to make sure its safe. It may take a couple of days to verify the water is not contaminated.
