The Valentine Police Department Week in Review:
March 13 – 19, 2022
On 03/13/2022 at 1:37 pm, an officer responded to the 100 block of west highway 20 for a report of a stolen pickup. The pickup was recovered by the Cherry County Sheriff’s Office. A 25 year old South Dakota male was found to be in possession of the pickup. An arrest was made.
On 03/13/2022 at 8:29 pm, officers responded to the 200 block of south Helen Street for a disturbance. A 21 year old South Dakota man was arrested on an active Cherry County warrant.
On 03/15/2022 at 2:22 pm, an officer responded to the 200 block of north Hall Street for a report of a stolen SUV. The vehicle was recovered by the Rosebud Tribal Police. A suspect has been identified. An arrest warrant has been requested.
On 03/17/2022 at 11:42 pm, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of east highway 20. A 30 year old Valentine man was arrested on suspicion of operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
On 03/18/2022, at the request of the Valentine Community Schools and the Cherry County Attorney’s Office, officers contacted 5 different families in regards to excessive truancy. All information was forwarded to the County Attorney for review.
On 03/19/2022 at 3:02 am, officers responded to the 600 block of north Cherry Street for a disturbance. A 44 year old Valentine man was arrested for domestic assault.
Officers responded to 143 calls for service this week.
