According to Nebraska Department of Transportation representatives, by the end of this month, area drivers should see signage going up around Valentine for the detour work to begin this fall. By October 1st signage should be up to indicate road work through town. By October 4th work should begin on Cherry Street which will serve as the detour route during the 2 years of construction on Main St. There will be some disruption of traffic on Cherry Street for the first couple weeks of October. There will also be some curb work and redesign work on the corner of 4th and Main St. during this time frame.
Construction starting on the north end of Main St is set to begin in the spring of 2022. Be sure to watch for a Facebook page to keep the public informed about construction information and stay tuned to KVSH radio for updates as well.
