The two Rural Fellows, Connor and Victor, have completed their 10 week work experience in the Valentine area working on economic and community development projects. One of the tasks undertaken this summer was creating a library of photos from the area to be used by Valentine area businesses for promotion. As a final touch in that data base, they created a photo contests for local people to contribute their own photos. The “I heart the Sandhills photo contest” will run till the end of August. You can upload photos, at visitvalentine.org and follow the I Heart the Sandhills photo contest link.

The photos will be judged and cash awards given to the top three in each category of Earth, Wind and fire. Participants can submit one photo per category and first place will be $100 in Chamber Bucks. Second place will be $75 and third place will get $50 in chamber bucks. All photos become the property of Valentine Economic Development and Cherry County Visitors Promotion Board. There will be a special youth category and prizes as well. Photos can feature any season and must have been taken in the last five years. There will also be a cash prize of $100 in chamber bucks for best in show.
