Valentine Community Schools Superintendent Mike Halley appeared on the KVSH Comment program Monday morning to talk about the school district. Mr. Halley stated that teachers will report back to school on August 6th, with students returning on August 12th. At this time they plan to hold classes in person with no masks required. This could change depending on directed health measures from the state.
The district has funding available through pandemic related federal aid and are asking for public input as to how to spend the money. Recent funds have been used to purchase additional cleaning supplies, a new phone and communications systerm and air purifications system, along with other projects.
Mr. Halley stated that Staffing is pretty much where it needs to be for the upcoming school. The district has also used relief funding to solicit for hiring a mental health expert for the school system.
