North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) has been made aware of 4 new COVID-19 cases in the district since last reporting period on 5/13/2021: 1-Antelope, 0-Boyd, 0- Brown, 0-Cherry, 2-Holt, 0- Keya Paha, 1-Knox, 0-Pierce, 0-Rock. NCDHD encourages district residents to continue to wear your mask in public places or where social distancing is difficult as well as practice social distancing while out in public.

NCDHD is pleased to report 37 recoveries from last reporting: Antelope- 13, Cherry-3, Holt-6, Keya Paha-1, Pierce-1, Knox-9, Pierce-4.

NCDHD regrets to report receipt of notification of a COVID-19 death in the district. The case was a male in his 50s from Antelope County. NCDHD sends its sincerest condolences to the family during this time.

With recent public gatherings and school events coming up in the near future, continue to monitor for signs and symptoms for COVID-19. During this time of year many people struggle with allergies, sinus infections, and common colds. If you have any questions regarding symptoms you have developed, please call your primary care provider or the health department.

Effective Monday, May 17th Test Nebraska Clinics will be in O’Neill on Mondays from 8:30 AM -10:30 AM at NCDHD. Access to the clinic will be through the alley on the North side of the NCDHD building. Please note this location change. To sign up for a testing time visit testnebraska.com.

Following the FDA and ACIP recommendations, NCDHD will start offering Pfizer vaccine to anyone 12+. On Monday, May 17th NCDHD will be visiting nearly every school in the district completing second round of Pfizer vaccine and available for first doses.   • Total doses administered= 28,814
  • Fully vaccinated that is 16+= 39.1%

On May 13, 2021 the CDC released Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People.  Key points from the summary of changes include:

  • Update that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or physically distance in any setting, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance
  • Update that fully vaccinated people can refrain from testing following a known exposure unless they are residents or employees of a correctional or detention facility or a homeless shelter
