The Cherry County Commissioners held a regular meeting on Tuesday, April 13th, 2021. Deanna Scott and Andrew Ward were appointed to the Hospital Board with one additional position remaining open at this time.
The board adopted a resolution opposing the 30 by 30 land preservation program by the federal government. The resolution states that approximately 10% of Cherry County land area is already owned by federal or state agencies, and the county had a natural resource and management plan for those federal and state managed lands. The board opposed the 30 by 30 program and further designation of public lands and national forests in Cherry County as wilderness study areas, wildlife preserves, open space or other conservation land.
The boards also approved a proclamation supporting the Valentine Public Library 100 year anniversary.
The agenda had the commissioners addressing the demands of attorney Jessica Piskorski of Ord, who recently spoke at the February 11th public hearing on the approved swine facility. She was requesting that a quote attributed to her in the minutes of a previous commissioners meeting be changed.
The conditional use permit for a conservation easement sought by Bow and Arrow Ranch was not approved at this time.
The next regular county commissioners meeting will be on April 27th, 2021.
