The North Central Nebraska Resource and Conservation District board met on Wednesday at the city building in Bassett for a regular monthly meeting. Coming off a successful scrap tire amnesty project in Cherry County, the district is focusing on electronic recycling coming in May. The tire collection garnered an estimated 300 tons of scrap tires that will be hauled away starting this Friday. A big thank you to Hanson Mueller/Valentine Feed Service for helping weigh numerous loads of tires for the project. Also a thank you to those who made a donation to the RC&D to help continue these recycling efforts.

Electronics recycling in Valentine will be May 4th, 11am to 3pm at the NRD parking lot on East Highway 20. This will be the last time old tube type TVs can be accepted thanks to a grant from the Nebraska Recycling Council. Only two old style TV’s per household can be accepted without incurring a charge. There will also be electronic recycling efforts in Bassett, Stuart, Springview, Cody, Spencer and O’Neill during early May, so be sure to watch for local information.
