January is National Mentoring Month. According to local Teammates Mentoring Coordinator JJ Thorpe, there are currently 38 mentoring matches in the K through 12 grades in Valentine Community Schools. The board would like to say a big thank you to those mentors currently involved in the program. Thorpe stated that its good to have the mentors allowed back into the schools to meet with their mentees. Mentors and Mentees can also meet through Zoom internet chats if they desire.
The Valentine TeamMates chapter will be offering $500 college scholarships again this year to graduating Seniors who have been part of the mentoring program.
More mentors are always needed, with several students desiring to have a mentor. Contact JJ Thorpe at the Valentine Middle School at 402 376 3367 for more information about the mentoring program.
