Cherry County Attorney Eric Scott has announced that Paul Nickisch Jr. died December 25, 2020 at the Cherry County Hospital while awaiting trial in a 1st Degree Murder case involving the March 4, 2019 shooting death of Pamela Nickisch.
The death is believed to be by natural causes and no foul play is suspected. A grand jury will be convened pursuant to Nebraska law which requires a grand jury to be empaneled anytime a person dies in the custody of law enforcement. The date that the grand jury will convene will be determined by the Cherry County District Court.
