Mid Plains Community College along with Valentine Economic Development took the first step toward bolstering the area health care work force with a panel discussion last night. The event was held at the Mid Plains Campus in Valentine and featured a panel from The Cherry County Hospital, Pineview Good Samaritan Center, Pioneer Memorial Rest Home in Mullen, Cherry County Hosptial Ambulance, Cherry Hills Estates and Becky shrunk who teaches CNA and LPN classes through Mid Plains.

Although the public turnout was light, there was excellent information presented about job opportunities, wages, benefit packages, sign on bonuses and job descriptions in the local healthcare fields. When asked what qualities they are looking for in a job applicant, panel members stated they look for honesty, promptness, hard working and compassionate employees.

There was also information presented about college scholarships available and an upcoming CNA class after the first of the year to get started.
