A post on the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Communications page by Tribal President Rodney Bordeaux Wednesday morning, October 28, 2020, announced the continuation of the Stay At Home Order until December 31, 2020. President Bordeaux said that as of Tuesday, October 27th, there were 161 active cases within the tribal communities and nearby counties have shown a rise in cases in the last two months. The stay at home order issued in March will remain in place. Essential activities are still exempt and masks are still required to be worn in public. Business will still require masks and limit the number of patrons in their facilities.
Bordeaux expressed frustration with the State of South Dakota and Nebraska for not taking the threat seriously. He encouraged neighboring school districts to adhere to the mask requirement that is established on the reservation. He also thanked the front line workers, law enforcement, EMTs, correction staff, firefighters, contract tracers and others, along with the businesses who have made customer safety a priority.
