The Valentine Volunteer Fire Department recently sent correspondence discussing the importance of fire prevention and installing a smoke detector, along with regularly checking the batteries. 

During the past fiscal year from May 1, 2019 to April 20, 2020, the VFD responded to 30 incidents, 12 in the city, 17 rural and 1 mutual aid call. This resulted in 552 hours spent in answering alarms. This year a total of 3273 hours were spent in service to the community on fires, drills, meetings, schooling and other special duties. 

As of September 30th, the department has 44 active members.
