At 9:43 AM Tuesday morning, 6/23/2020, the Mellette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle being stolen from the Gus Stop II parking lot in White River. One man was observed getting out of a two tone Ford and getting into a blue Dodge, both vehicles left heading North. Several calls came in from citizens reporting the location of the two vehicles. Due to the combined efforts of the Mellette and Jones County Sheriff’s Offices, the Murdo Police Department and the South Dakota Highway Patrol, a 21 year old Male from Spokane, Washington and a 19 year old man from Summerset, South Dakota were arrested. The Ford had been stolen from Rapid City earlier in the morning. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were also found during the arrest.
Two Men Arrested on Grand Theft and Felony Drug Charges
