Multiple units from the Valentine Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a large garage fire on the 800 block of North Haley about 1:30 Monday afternoon. The entire garage was engulfed in flames when crews arrived. Units from Kilgore and Wood lake assisted in battling the blaze. The home, on the very north edge of town, is owned by Dick and Janice Tetherow. Also responding to stand by were members of the Cherry County Hospital Ambulance units. Crews remained on the scene most of the afternoon. The fire marshal from Bassett arrived to help determine the cause of the blaze which is thought to be electrical and starting in the garage area. There was heavy damage to the interior of the home area and the garage area was destroyed. Fire personnel left the scene about 5:30. Stay tuned to KVSH Radio for further details.
