According to Project Leader Steve Hicks, the bison at Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge will be in the pasture closest to the visitor center for the next week or so. This would be a good time to see the herd with new bison calves. Viewing them from the County road or the refuge auto tour route will be easy. Please drive slowly to avoid running into the adult bison and newborns. Please stay in your cars when around the bison. Mother bison do not like you messing with their babies. The refuge visitor center remains closed due to the COVID-19 virus.
