According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, crews continue to monitor area highways for problems caused by flooding. Highway 97 South of Merritt Dam has water over the road at mile marker 109. This area is just South of the lake. Cars may have trouble passing through the water, but pick ups should be OK. DOT continues to pump water from the area. Caution should be used. There some other areas to further to the south on Highway 97 where water is creeping onto the shoulder of the road.
On Highway 83, 31 miles South of Valentine, DOT continues to pump water from the Pony Lake area where water has so far stayed off the highway. Further South on 83 there is a point where water is on the west shoulder. The area is marked with Orange cones at this time.
