Shortly after 11AM on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, Valentine Community Schools announced that classes would be suspended for the rest of the school year. The announcement stated that based on recommendations from NCDHD and Nebraska Department of Education, classes would be suspended. Students and staff will continue the alternative learning environment format. The situation will be monitored and adjustments will be made when possible. Superintendent Dr. Jamie Isom, will be our guest on the second half of the KVSH Comment program on Wednesday to talk about this situation and the new lunch program for students in the community that began Tuesday. Valentine Community Schools will start serving free pre-packaged lunches for children beginning today, March 24th. The drive-through pickup will take place at Valentine High School and Valentine Middle School from 11:30am – 12:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays for all children ages 18 and younger. Lunch will be provided in bags with Tuesday’s bag containing lunch for 2 days and Thursday’s bag containing lunch for 3 days. Middle school pickup will be in front of the middle school on Wood Street. High School pickup will be in the parking lot on the south side of the high school.
Guidelines:
Children must be in the vehicle to receive their bag of food.
Please do not park and get out of your vehicle.
Please do not consume meals on site.
The number of children in the vehicle will determine the number of meals each vehicle gets.
Meal distribution will begin promptly at 11:30am and end at noon.
