Valentine Police Department Week in Review:
March 1-7, 2020
On 3/2/20 at 7:19 am, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of north Main Street. During an investigation, evidence of drugs (marijuana concentrates) were located. A 25 year old male and 27 year old male, both from South Dakota, were arrested. The Department’s Narcotic Detector K9 was utilized during this stop.
On 3/3/20 at 2:14 am, an officer was called to the 300 block of north Wood Street in regards to a domestic disturbance. A 33 year old Valentine man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence during this contact.
On 3/4/20 at 1:00 pm, an officer responded to the 700 block of east Highway 20 in regards to fraudulent money. A 66 year old South Dakota woman was cited for possession and attempted use of the fake monies.
On 3/5/20 at 9:05 am, an officer conducted a traffic stop near C and Government Streets. A 47 year old Valentine man was cited for registration and insurance violations.
On 3/6/20 at 4:01 pm, Officers from the Valentine Police Department, Mellette County Sheriff’s Office, Cherry County Sheriff’s Office, and USFWS served a search warrant in the 100 block of north Wood Street. Information had been received that led to the belief that there would be a man who had an active warrant in the home and evidence of recent burglaries would be present. During the search, cash, clothing and tools were located that were tied to the burglaries. In addition, drugs (methamphetamine) and drug paraphernalia were located. A 27 year old male and 21 year old male, both from Valentine, were arrested during this incident.
Officers responded to 123 calls for service this week. They presented at 5 public relation events this week.
