The Nebraska Department of Transportation closed Highway 97 one mile south of Merritt Dam Wednesday morning, to install a culvert . DOT tried twice last week to get the work done, but high water levels prevented work. They have been pumping water from the area to lower the levels so the culvert can be installed.
Water tables in other parts of the county are also coming up and causing early problems with some county roads as well. Drivers should be cautious.
