About 30 people attended a focus meeting last evening at Mid Plains College to discuss implementation of the Valentine Main St. construction. The group consisted mainly of businesses located on Main Street that will be the most affected by the construction. Representatives from Nebraska DOT reported on the construction phases planned to begin in the spring of 2021. There will be three main phases of construction, dividing Main Street into three sections. The two portions not under construction will remain open to traffic.
A representative of Heartland Power of Madison, SD presented information on energy efficiency grants that may be available and some economic development incentives for start up and expanding businesses.
There were also reports from Valentine Economic Development, the Valentine Chamber of Commerce and City Manager Shane Siewart reported on the city infrastructure that will be replaced during construction.
At this time, bids are still planned to be released this year with construction to begin in the spring of 2021. The final phase should wrap up in the fall of 2022. For further information contact Mike Burge at 402 376 6842
