Valentine Police Department Week in Review:

January 12-18, 2020

On 01/13/20 at 3:48 am, Officers responded to an automated business alarm at the Verizon Store.  A male suspect attempted a “smash and grab” style burglary.  The suspect was unsuccessful in stealing any items and fled prior to law enforcement arrival.  The public’s assistance is needed in an effort to identify the suspect.  Contact the Valentine Police Department if you saw any suspicious activity in or around the store on this date.

On 01/15/20 at 1:25 am, Officers contacted a vehicle and occupants for suspicious behavior.  Following an investigation, 3 individuals were arrested for possessing greater than 2 lbs of suspected marijuana and possession of methamphetamine.  The suspects were a 21 year old female from Iowa, a 33 year old male from South Dakota and a 39 year old South Dakota male.

On 1/16/20 at 11:27 am, an Officer responded to Young’s Western Wear in regards to a delayed shoplifting theft.  Surveillance footage was reviewed.  Arrest warrants will be sought as soon as the suspect is identified.

On 1/16/20 at 3:37 pm, an Officer responded to the intersection of 5th and Green Streets in regards to a non-injury accident.  Damage to vehicles required one vehicle to be towed from the area.  All information regarding this accident will be forwarded to the Cherry County Attorney for review.

On 1/17/20 at 3:15 am, Officers responded to the 400 block of West 2nd street in regards to a possible assault.  Subjects involved declined to “press charges” and wouldn’t cooperate with Officers.  No action was taken by Officers.
