The Cherry County Veterans Memorial Committee is continuing to make progress on memorials for Korean and Vietnam era veterans. The committee is planning memorials to honor veterans who served from the conclusion of World War II to the end of the Vietnam War.
One major challenge is ensuring that all names are included on the memorials. At this time they have over 1,000 names but do not want to miss someone that served either in peace time or in a conflict. The committee will be at the Valentine Senior Center all next week from 1 to 4 pm for area residents to stop and check the registry of names. The deadline to submit a name will be March first.
The goal is raise $90,000 and have the memorial ready for dedication this coming July 4th. If you would like to make a donation, contact Don Nelson, John Ravenscroft or Bob Stetter. The memorials will be placed at Veterans memorial Park in front of the Cherry County Justice Center. Find information online here: https://www.leobrinda90memorial.com/
