Valentine Police Department Week in Review:
Week of December 29, 2019 through January 4, 2020
On 12/29/19 at 6:10 pm, Officers received a request to respond to the 900 block of North Green Street to check the welfare of an individual. Officers discovered evidence of a possible assault that had occurred. All information was forwarded to the Cherry County Attorney for review.
On 1/1/20 at 6:09 pm, a welfare check was requested in the 200 block of West B Street. In the process of handling this call, officers found a subject who had an active Cherry County Warrant. A 46 year old Valentine woman was arrested.
On 1/2/20 at 10:51 am, Officers were requested to respond to Highway 20 and Western Streets in regards to an unresponsive subject inside a vehicle. Following an investigation, a 19 year old Valentine man was arrested on suspicion of operating his vehicle while under the influence.
On 1/3/20 at 10:19 am, Officers responded to the 400 block of East Highway 20 in regards to a subject who had previously been identified as shoplifting on 1/1/20. The 47 year old South Dakota woman was cited for the shoplifting incident and received a criminal trespass warning from the business.
On 1/3/20 at 12:33 pm, Officers responded to the 500 block of West 3rd Street for a delayed assault report that had occurred on 1/1/20. All information will be forwarded to the Cherry County Attorney.
On 1/3/20 at 4:11 pm, the Cherry County Sheriff’s Office requested VPD assistance at 1st and Cherry Streets. A 30 year old South Dakota woman was cited for an open container of alcohol following this assist.
On 1/3/20 at 4:47 pm, Officers were requested to respond to the 500 block of West 3rd Street in regards to someone attempting to force entry into an apartment. The Cherry County Sheriff’s Office was able to make contact with suspects. All reports and information will be forwarded to the Cherry County Attorney for review
Officers responded to 130 call for service this week.
