Valentine’s Miller Field reported record snowfall amounts the past two days; 3.3 inches on Sunday 12/29/19 and 3.1 inches on Saturday 12/28/19. The numbers seem low, however, to those having to dig out from the drifts. Around 1:00 am CT, the Cherry County Sheriff’s office reported on social media that 4 vehicles and a semi/trailer were are stuck in a snow drift at Mile Marker 216 on Hwy 83, blocking the roadway. Highway 83 north of Valentine was closed as a result. Once the road was opened around 10:30 am CT on Monday morning, no travel was still advised due to blowing and drifting snow.  Motorists are encourage to check https://www.safetravelusa.com/ for the latest updates.  The National Weather Service reported that the heaviest snow fell from Custer to Boyd County, where 12″ to 16″ accumulated.
