Valentine Police Department Week in Review:

December 8-14, 2019

On 12/8/19 at 9:49 am, Officers received a report of a stolen motor vehicle from the 500 block of North Howe Street.  Later that evening, Rosebud Tribal Police notified the department that the vehicle had been located.  With the assistance of the Rosebud Tribal Police and the Cherry County Sheriff’s Office, suspects have been identified and requests for arrest warrants have been made.

On 12/8/19 at 9:25 pm, Officers made contact with a vehicle in the 100 block of east highway 20 due to reports of a possible drunk driver.  During the contact, drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine was located.  A 23 year old South Dakota woman was arrested following the investigation.

** Previously reported **       On 12/09/19 as a result of information shared by the Rosebud Tribal Police and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, a search warrant was served in the 200 block of south Main Street.  Items seized were related to the possession and sale of methamphetamine.  Officers were assisted by the Cherry County Sheriff’s Office during this search.  The department’s narcotic detection dog Boss was deployed during this search.  The case will be forwarded to the Cherry County Attorney.

On 12/12/19 at 12:36 am, Officers were requested to respond to the 200 block of North Howe Street in regards to a disturbance resulting in criminal mischief damage.  The suspect, a 22 year old Valentine woman, was later located and was arrested in connection to the disturbance, damage and for suspicion of operating her vehicle while under the influence.

On 12/13/19 at 9:45 pm, Officers received a report of a residential burglary in the 300 block of North Wood Street.  Unknown person(s) forcefully gained entry into the home and stole a computer.  Your help is needed to help identify the suspect(s).

On 12/14/19 at 7:21 pm, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of east highway 20.  During the investigation, the department’s narcotic detection dog Boss was deployed.  Marijuana and paraphernalia were seized.  A 19 year old South Dakota man was cited for the violation.

Officers responded to 123 calls for service this week.
